Holly’s journey into data began in chemistry and scientific research, where she developed a strong analytical approach and discovered that she particularly enjoyed using data to explore and communicate complex ideas clearly.
Holly works confidently across Tableau, Power BI and Alteryx, applying them to both client and independent projects. She combines analytical problem-solving with thoughtful visual design and is comfortable applying these skills across different sectors, with particular interests in science, research, public services and other work centred on people and real-world impact. Her projects have included:
Building an interactive office-utilisation dashboard, giving the client clearer evidence for workspace and capacity planning.
Combining referral, demographic and geographic data for a healthcare company to identify where targeted hiring could support growth by meeting unmet demand.
Creating a deduplication workflow for a law firm, making likely duplicate records easier to group and resolve into a single source of truth.
Using creative projects to explore Tableau beyond standard dashboards, including animation, TabPy and custom chart construction, to develop a deep technical understanding of how its different features work.
Before joining the Data School, Holly completed a first-class Master’s degree in Chemistry at the University of Leeds and worked as a research student and postgraduate teaching assistant at UCL. This background developed her analytical thinking, attention to detail and ability to communicate complex ideas to different audiences.
Outside of work, Holly enjoys knitting and crochet, reading, cooking, hiking and the occasional cold-water swim.
