With a background in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh, Melissa joined the Data School because they were drawn to the combination of technical and client-facing consulting. Applying their skills to software such as Tableau, Power BI and Project Management.
Throughout their degree, they particularly enjoyed analytical projects, including their dissertation on crowd flow dynamics, where they investigated how movement patterns differ between panic and non-panic situations. This experience strengthened their interest in using data to understand complex problems and support informed decision-making.
Outside of work, they enjoy staying active through sport and hiking, as well as spending time socialising with friends. They enjoy tackling new challenges, whether that's exploring the outdoors or developing new technical skills.
