With a problem-solving approach to data, Oscar views working with data as a puzzle to be solved and a mystery to be untangled. Through his dad, he started to become familiar with data visualization earlier than most, eventually having his interests lean more towards the behind-the-scenes, engineering side of the field.
In further education, Oscar graduated from Delft University of Technology with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering, working through its data track. Through his courses, he became more familiar with data on a professional level, working with databases in PostgreSQL and various programming languages such as Python and Java. His thesis focused on rank comparison algorithms and how they can be applied within constraints, particularly in relation to search engine optimization.
Beyond the Data School, Oscar finds fun in swimming as well as in watching NFL, college football, and baseball, especially involving their unique stats. He also likes to read, and plays board games, card games, and video games in his spare time.
