Did You Know Alteryx Has Hidden Games?

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been learning a lot of Alteryx as part of the training at The Data School. Recently, I also passed my Alteryx Core Certification, so I’ve been spending a lot of time building workflows and getting familiar with the syntax.

After a while, staring at workflows and tools all day can get a bit intense.

That’s when I came across a small hidden feature in Alteryx that I didn’t know existed: it actually has built-in games.

How to Find the Games

To access them:

Go to Help in the top menu and click "About".

When the pop-up window opens, double-click on the Alteryx logo.

This opens up a one of two games: Pong or Space Invaders. The selection is random, so you'll have to see which you get. You control the game using the keyboard, and can exit by pressing the escape key.

A Quick Break

This obviously isn’t going to help you build better workflows, but it’s a nice reminder that not everything has to be serious all the time.

When you’ve been debugging workflows or trying to figure out why something isn’t working, it can be useful to step away for a few minutes.

Even something as simple as this can give you a quick reset before going back to the problem. It’s a small feature, but a fun one to know about.

If you’re using Alteryx regularly, it’s worth checking out, even if just once.
