Dashboard Week Day 3: Power BI KPI Report

For Dashboard Week day 3, DS54 will be analysing the performance of social media campaigns.

Across the day, the group will use Power BI to transform campaign performance data into a clear, executive-ready KPI monitoring dashboard that provides a high-level overview of campaign success and other key metrics across the year.

The Brief

The group has been provided with Social Media Campaign Performance data from RWFD, containing metrics designed to measure the effectiveness and impact of marketing campaigns across digital platforms.

Using the data provided on the RWFD site, DS54 will need to:

  • Explore and understand the structure of the dataset
  • Prepare and model the data as required in Power BI
  • Design and build a KPI dashboard suitable for a senior marketing audience

The primary stakeholder is the Head of Marketing, who requires a yearly, high-level overview of campaign performance and key metrics to support decision-making and reporting.

The dashboard should focus on:

  • Communicating campaign success clearly and efficiently
  • Highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to marketing performance
  • Allowing the stakeholder to quickly assess what is working well and where performance may be lagging

The final dashboard should feel polished, purposeful, and presentation-ready, reflecting real-world expectations of executive reporting.

By the end of the day, DS54 must:

  • Publish the dashboard to their Power BI workspace, ready to present
  • Present their dashboards at 3:30pm
  • Finish the day by writing a blog reflecting on the challenge, their design choices, and key insights.

Good luck DS54! 🚀
